Jim Hanes

Owner

Jim’s family has lived in the valley he farms for over eight generations. A strong believer in pairing environmentalism and farming techniques, he has been using methods like rotational grazing and watershed preservation techniques for over three decades. Jim has served on the boards of the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC), the Audobon Society, and on committees for the National Cattleman’s Association. He and his wife Jane enjoy summer dinners on the porch, mountain biking, and holidays with family.

Drewry Hanes

Co-Owner, Director of Marketing

Drew is a Family Nurse Practitioner, health researcher, and mental health specialist. She has had the honor to spend her nursing career working in community clinics and teaching at Montana State University. She has also been dedicated to preserving America’s public lands for all to preserve outdoor heritage and access. She splits her time between Montana and Virginia, and enjoys hunting, foraging, and adventuring with her German Shorthair Willie.

David Schlabach

Chief Operations Officer

Hailing from Burke’s Garden’s Amish community, David began managing his family’s farm at the early age of 13. With a strong grasp of beef and crop agriculture, rotational grazing infrastructure and management, and bovine health principles, David leads the farm’s operations and staff management. During his spare time, David enjoys hunting, reading, and spending time with his wife Mattie who runs the valley’s general store Mattie’s Place and his son Nevin who also works on Senah Farm.

Marcus Hanes

Co-Owner

Marcus recently moved back to the Southeast and is enjoying being more active in farm operations, living in Asheville, North Carolina. He enjoys walks with his Boxer Hooch, reading about history, and lending his experience with nonprofit management to future Senah Farm endeavors.
